Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, New York on July 15th 1956. He is an American virtuoso instrumental rock guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and multiple Grammy Award nominee.

 

Joe Satriani was inspired to play guitar at the age of 14, after hearing of the death of Jimi Hendrix. He has been said to have heard the news during a football training session, where he confronted his coach and announced that he was quitting and planning to become a guitarist.

 

Early in his career, Satriani worked as a guitar instructor, and some of his former students have achieved fame such as Steve Vai, Larry LaLonde, Rick Hunolt, Kirk Hammett, and so on.

 

Satriani, as a founder of the G3 tour, has been a driving force in music credited to the influences from other musicians to his career and frequently performs in various positions with other musicians.
