Ibanez JS2400 Guitar

JS2400, THE MAIN GUITAR This is the guitar that Satriani uses most of the time. If you decide to throw down the 2,000+ dollars for this, you will have exactly what you probably will see should you ever see him play live. The body is made of basswood, a very light tone wood which is great for cutting through the rest of the band during solos.  The wood is sculpted ergonomically to give you great access to the higher frets. The neck is a bolt-on maple neck with a rosewood 24-fret fingerboard. The guitar has two pickups: a DiMarzio Mo’ Joe bridge pickup and a DiMarzio Pro Track neck pickup. The Pro Track is a humbucker made to be the size of a single-coil. Satriani uses this because a standard humbucker would have to be closer to the bridge to compensate for the 24-fret neck, which would affect the tone. This smaller humbucker allows him to keep the warm tone of a neck pickup while still being able to play higher on the fretboard.  The Ibanez JS2400 also has an EDGE locking tremolo unit. The volume and tone knobs act as push pull switches that act as a high pass filter (for letting the high frequencies cut through) and a coil tap (turning the humbuckers into single-coils) respectively. – See more at: http://theampedblog.com/2013/07/ibanez-joe-satriani-signature-guitars/#sthash.Kb8nFx14.dpuf
